Two monks are outside watching a flag in the wind… One says to the other: “the wind is moving”. The other replied: “no; The flag is moving!” A third monk passes by and said: “it is your mind that is moving!”
Desire is what moves the mind. Thus the question: how do I quit wanting? How do I stay right in the moment, unconcerned with what the future may or may not give, untouched by the state of my health or my father’s health or the country’s health? How do I stop projecting my fears? How do I simply remain not moving, peaceful, witnessing it all…
The answer that came to me today was “anonymously!” It reminds me of the myth of the Sumerians that strangely resembles what we know in the Bible, on the old testament side, as the Tower of Babel. In many Mesopotamian texts, the people were said to travel the sky, and had build what was called in Sumerian a shem, meaning a ”sky vehicle”… also meaning a “name”! Who would the achiever be, if he/she/I/we did not have to build a tower and be higher than God? Would he have a name?
And is the name just that, a compulsive reason to rival with God, and attain unequaled heights?
That is a big Wow for Maha tonight! A Maha Wow… O my God, even my blog has a name!
Silence is the exit door…
With much love,
